Into another year and not a natural disaster in sight …

I feel as if 2010 was the year of my disaster blog, with so much of it dwelling on the September earthquake in Canterbury.

So, I had great plans to start 2011 on a positive note…then, along come the Queensland floods. I have friends in Ipswich and just hope they’re okay. There hasn’t been a word from them since Jan 12 when they were about to lose power. They had their bags packed just in case and were on high ground. But, even so, at the very least they’ve been without power all this time and living in a town that seems to have been mostly inundated by many metres of river water. This makes our earthquake look positively benign!

Also, whaddaya know, we had another 5.1 after-shock on Thursday morning at 6am and another to follow last night, 4.4, just after 2am. So the rumbling continues and our poor old villa gets a few new cracks every time.

But this is NOT a disaster blog! Seriously!!!!
