Non-perishable food donations now the priority

The Rangiora Earthquake Express is now asking for non-perishable food items to be dropped off at the Rangiora Racecourse, (entry off Lehmans Road) or the Chervier Centre car park in Victoria Street. We were out at the racecourse this morning and can say there is a steady stream of traffic heading in that direction with plenty of donated items on board. Also wanted: empty and full water bottles, nappies, baby food and formula, sanitary products, batteries, candles, lighters/matches & boxes.

Such a relief to have heard over the weekend that everyone at Avenues is okay. I’m also hearing from a number of other friends & associates about their various experiences. Everyone is okay, but so many people have now left the city because of the massive damage to their homes. It’s a very sad and worrying time for them, needless to say …
